Blackboard Messages from Mr. Riordan
Aramark will be hosting a free barbeque for any Cherry Hill Schools family who requires assistance filling out our free and reduced lunch forms. See attached flyer.
Good morning. This morning we practiced our first "Lockdown" drill. A lockdown is activated when there is a significant incident happening within the building. All activities come to a stop. No one is permitted inside or outside of the school. Doors are locked, students move to one side of the class and a room darkening shade is pulled down on the door preventing anyone from seeing into the class. Lights are turned off and children remain quite for the duration of the lockdown.
Students remained in lockdown for 7 minutes today while officer Redmond and I checked all classroom doors and ensured the room darkening shade was pulled down.
The drill went very well. Your children may discuss this with you when they get home. It is important that you reinforce what we are doing in the building to ensure the safety and security of your children.

Hello Stockton Staff & Community. On Wednesday September 11, 2019 (Patriot Day) we would like to honor those we tragically lost on 9/11/01 and those who lost their lives in connection with this event in the years that followed by wearing red, white, and blue. As a whole school, we will observe moments of silence as follows:
9:37 a.m.: Hijackers deliberately crash American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon, near Washington, D.C.
9:59 a.m.: The South Tower (2 WTC) collapses.
10:03 a.m.: After learning of the other attacks, passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 launch a counterattack on hijackers aboard their plane to try to seize control of the aircraft. The plane was crashed into an empty field near Shanksville, Pa.
10:28 a.m.: The North Tower (1 WTC) collapses. The 16-acre World Trade Center site is in ruins, with collateral damage affecting all adjacent properties and streets. A rescue and recovery effort begins immediately.
For years, nutrition experts have said that a healthy breakfast is a key start to the day. Not only do we think and perform better on the job and at school, they tell us, it supports our well-being in many other ways. As a parent, I know how hectic our household was as our children were growing up. I have made space available in the APR from 8:45 - 9:00 to students if they wish to purchase breakfast at the school. I have also included a menu for the month and will send home a new one each month. Should you have any questions, you can contact me or Aramark, our food provider. September Breakfast Menu
Welcome to the 2019 - 2020 school year. This has been a great week. We welcomed students back to school with the "Red Carpet" treatment. See picture attached. The students settled into their classroom routines as if they did not have the summer off. It seems like some of the children grew 8-10 inches over the summer. Below are a few reminders;

Please do not hesitate to contact me or your child's classroom teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
If for any reason you are changing the way your child will go home: rider to walker, walker to rider, SACC to rider or any other change, DO NOT EMAIL THE TEACHER. If the teacher is out that day, no one will get the message. Send in a note and follow up with a call to the main office to ensure we received the note and are following your instructions. We will accommodate your request but ask that you communicate in this manner. Most days the teachers are here but it only takes one time for us to not get the message. Thanks for understanding.
Entry into the building: No one will be permitted in the school during school hours without you identifying yourself and providing the student number for your child. Once you enter the building, come directly to the main office. This is a non-negotiable policy. It is part of the safety and security measures we have in all of our schools. In addition our safety drills will begin soon. We have been walking students through the process. I will communicate with you after each drill.
Have a great weekend.
Thanks for all your support.
